Urban Gardening
We see two great potentials for urban gardening in our neighborhood. There are a large number of city owned vacant lots that can be utilized for urban gardening. This would alleviate the city's burden to maintain these lots and provide a source of community co-operation and nutritious food for the residents.
Group gardens operate as just that, gardens planted, cared for and harvested by a group of people co-operatively.
Individuals living in the area can obtain a lease to garden vacant city lots for 5 years at just $1.00 per year. Our goal is to assist them with training and set up of their gardens.
