The Opportunity Center

Opportunity starts at 1515 Newhouse. This building is approximately 4200 square feet and was donated to Sun Ministries in December of 2009. The lower level of this facility houses a wood working shop. The upper level has a sewing center and training area. The Opportunity Center serves as the main training and manufacturing center for our operations.

Through this facility we offer many training opportunities, assistance in small business development, and job reintroduction assistance. Learn more by following the links provided below.

Training Classes

We offer free training classes to residents of the community. We offer skills training in the basics of sewing, wood working, and jewelry making. We offer spiritual training through a weekly course taught by Dr. Terry Goodwin. We offer classes in Guitar, Dulcimer, Creative Writing, and Tae Kwon Do when our volunteer teachers are available. The training center is also used to offer opportunities to explore different crafts in an informal way. Click Here

Job Reintroduction

Being unemployed can be a very difficult time. The longer you are out of work the harder it becomes to find a job. Staying active and networking can be a difficult task for many people. For those that find themselves homeless it is even more difficult. The Opportunity Center offers the long-term unemployed a hand up in the job hunt.
